Barabra Brody Prints

Barbara Brody is a contemporary artist and colourist who has had a love affair with the sunlight, skies and landscapes, for as long as she can remember. Her language of images can be rich, playful, bold, magical and often evoke a spiritual quality - her work is always alive with a sense of spirit and wonder.

All artists have different ways of working. I have always preferred to work on a number of items at once. I usually start by making many small miniature drawings or paintings; I then pick some and recreate them in larger form: building them up with paint, acrylic and embellishments and I continue to work on all the pieces concurrently, until the collection is complete.'

Barbara was born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois area and now lives in the lush landscape of southern Pennsylvania. Creativity runs through her family: the artist's children are writers, her sister is a graphic designer and sculptor & she has cousins and nieces all in the creative fields.

The artist is also referred to as also known as B.H. Brody, as her full name is Barbara Hammerman Brody.

Barbara Brody’s works is a little more straightforward, as for the large part they tend to centre on the sky, which of course stems from her first known interactions and observations of a huge, enigmatic sky as an infant. There’s a huge calming quality to a trademark Barbara Brodys composition, which relaxes the viewer that her peers seldom achieve as the artist transports you to the fields of plenty and the glorious heaven on earth beyond. In all honesty Brody’s skies kidnap a good two-thirds of the frame, which is hardly a negative when confronted with such instantaneously dynamic reds, yellows and blues that conspire to give each painting such a bottomless pit when it comes to perceived depth

Harking back to the age of three, Brody recounts how the sun, skies and landscapes around her afforded her this panoramic, larger than life perspective as viewed through innocent eyes.

In all honesty Brody’s skies kidnap a good two-thirds of the frame, which is hardly a negative when confronted with such instantaneously dynamic reds, yellows and blues that conspire to give each painting such a bottomless pit when it comes to perceived depth.
